Lower cost spay, neuter, and wellness care clinic in Malabar on Malabar Road.
Brevard Spay/Neuter Clinic (previously Brevard Community Animal Hospital) was started in 2007 by Dr. Connie Mengering. She is a veterinarian and was the owner of a full-service veterinary clinic in Melbourne for 25 years.
Although she worked with a few non-profit animal groups during that time to provide lower-cost veterinary care, it was not until she sold her practice and retired that she began to realize how much more commitment to the area of low-cost spays and neuters was desperately needed.
In 2007, Brevard Community Animal Hospital (now Brevard Spay/Neuter Clinic) partnered with Animal Guardians of Brevard, one of the first non-profit groups in Brevard to provide financial assistance to qualifying pet owners in Brevard County to get their pets sterilized. Over the past six years the clinic has been able to offer these services to other committed groups (PURRS, Last Chance Sanctuary, South Brevard German Shepherd Rescue, Suntree-Viera Pet Rescue, Brevard Aiding Shelter Animals Project, Helping Overpopulation of Pets End, Space Coast Feline Network, and Sparticus Legacy.)
This year in May, Brevard Community Animal Hospital moved to its new location in Malabar and became Brevard Spay/Neuter Clinic. This change was made in order to provide a greater number of spay and neuter surgeries and to be more accessible to the public as well as to the non-profit animal groups.
The main mission of Brevard Spay/Neuter Clinic is to be part of a larger campaign in Brevard County to address pet overpopulation concerns and provide lower-cost spays and neuters to pet owners and caretakers who cannot otherwise afford them. Our partnership with different non-profit groups also helps to get financial aid to qualifying pet families.
